Reposted from Bedlam Boards:

This Saturday, May the 20th, the staff of the Sparrow's Feather proudly invites you to the Grand Opening of our tavern.

At p.m. eastern, our doors will be open for anyone wishing to enjoy food, drink and entertainment. Enjoy the best beverages and win gold in entertaining games such as Tinker Roulette.

The Sparrow's Feather is conveniently located just southeast of Skara Brae. We look forward to your visit!

That would be the house beside Sybeus' and Rai's homes. Word is that it's a real seedy joint for the ne'er do wells. Lucky you. Que's moves out of the neighbourhood and it all goes downhill.

I knew it; yet another tavern. I saw them remodelling the place a little while back. Makes me wonder if the roleplaying community has gotten a bit lazy in the ideas department. Just how many taverns do we need?

Apparently at least one for every night of the week, so that at least someone can bitch when any other event happens. *nods sagely*

But wasn't Saints and Spirits slotted for Saturday night already?

Aye, but their players are taking a break from UO in general. This is also why the Wednsday nights moved from the new Kinship Tavern to Que's.

Well the one thing that's gonna be different about this tavern....is that it's not a "good guys" tavern.

It's gonna be more of the gambling / grogging / wenching / illegal and underhanded dealings department. *chuckles*

Which I think IS something the shard needs. However I'm a bit...unnerved at the location. =p

So therefore I shall dedicate TIME...to have Aly be sure to show up...often...and keep an eye on things...

....and...perhaps...get in on some of the profit sharing... *grins slowly and cracks her knuckles before pondering what benefit doing some of her own underhanded business in said tavern might be...*

Sign me up! Oh wait, that's me, not Hodur...

Well we stopped by there last night and it seems I was a bit wrong.

It's not "seedy" at all...at least not in appearances. *grins* They are trying to put up a rather lavish rich front, making it look as if everything's on the up and up. So the tavern is actually very nice. And the staff very "friendly" *chuckles*

They have "Tinker's Roulette"...a gambling game where you wear a special suit of armor with 50 fire resist and open a trapped chest. If you survive you win the bet. You can bet money and if you live then you get your bet back plus double it I think?

Patronage is mixed...last night there were a few "good guys" who stopped by to check it out. Aly was there for awhile. Had the mistress of the Thieves guild hitting on her. *grins mischeviously* Aly was rather amused at the whole thing. Especially when her "man" just sat across the bar glaring at them both. lol. The LBRS was there hanging out for a bit. Some new characters created recently by folks to join up with the new pirate guild and such. All in all it wasn't a bad experience.

From talking to the owners OOC, it seems as if all the shady dealings are gonna take place pretty much behind the scenes. Those who know how to insert themselves into it, or wish to become involved ...probably will have to pull the owners aside and ask about "Special services" or somesuch. drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc...all there if you know where to look. *chuckles*

They've done a good job with it. I think I'll go next week *grins*

Well, I didn't make opening night, but when Sybeus watches black cloaked figures wandering in and out of the tavern during off hours, then it kinda ruins the illusion of a "fancy front" in game ;)

Out of curiousity, did most of them at least change to more suitable clothing for the scheduled time?

Aye everyone was dressed rather well. *grins* No real seedy types came in at least by clothing standards...can kinda tell who's "seedy" though by how they look and act. *winks*

Well, perhaps the grand opening was a more of a mixed lot, but this eve it was men in black cloaks, black clothed "sailors", and orcs. There was a few "good" type folks, but they were literally a few at most.

Times sure have changed. There was once a time when seeing an orc meant a call to arms. Not even sure how to roleplay the fact that orcs (Sybeus' lifelong enemy) are welcomed by his neighbors to frequent the area around his house. The only saving grace is at least the waitress seemed a bit scared to be serving them, and had to be told by the owner to do so.
