View Full Version : Leveling advice..
I have found quests to be slower for leveling, a lot of running around then running back to turn in for meager XP rewards and weak items.
I suggest forming up groups as best as you can and going to the public quests right away and just redo them over and over. stage 1 nets a lot of xp every time and is usually quick. in the 1st camp, the first few stages can be done by lvls 2. stage 3 by lvl 4 tanks with help
2nd camp is bugged, but the 1st stage nets 1000+xp every 20 minutes or so, not including the xp you get from killing orcs. In small groups, work to clear the area, you get money and xp. 2nd stage is bugged, but makes for quick repeat of stage 1. by lvl 4 you probly want to move to next camp's PQ.
the 3rd public quest is competiton against the orcs. kill 100 orcs before they kill 100 dorfs. you will be outnumbered most likely, but there is a fast respawn and good xp for lvls 4-6. should be other dorfs there, form a gorup and go to town. repeat stage 1 wins get you 2k+ xp.
once you are lvl 6, go to both pvp camps and get all teh quests you can. if you are lucky to live in a timezone where the pvp zone is active, you can just join in, dont worry about death, try to get a group and rake in the xp.
We need to get as many people to lvl 10 before moving on as a group, cause the next camps are tough :)
If you see affrell on, i will hapily help level you at the 3rd public quest, just follow the tracks from the redhammer pub and sprint thru aggro.
Cripes...how??!? None of my mouse buttons do anything, strafe doesn't work, jump doesn't work, and when I ran into a corner I got stuck in the polys and could only spin. :p How you've managed to overcome all that AND can actually hold your own in PvP is quite amazing...I'm having trouble just talking to an NPC! :(
I'll try again another night...maybe peruse the beta boards to see if anyone else is having the same kinds of problems...and if not, make a post of my own. Betas sure can be frustrating. =/

ive had no problems with the actual game client at all, at home.
at work the pc can barely handle moving forward.

I should add that this game is nowhere near the same kind of "grind" as DAoC or WoW or EQ or all these other MMOs.
Doing quests is fine for progression, and the "more toys, more often" philosophy really means that you feel like you are making progress often.
Sure, it's taking a little longer to get to level 5 than say in DAoC, but that's only for people anticipating RvR. In the scheme of things, level 5 is very early in the game and the RvR content starts from there on.

Ugh Dara. I'm not having any of those problems (but my machine is pretty smoking too).
Good to know Nok. Thanks for the help. :)

The 2nd camp (influence area) actually has 3 public quests. The bugged one probably is best influence/xp, but when stage 1 is done there you can do the other ones while the timer goes. And for testing purpose we should probably try to finish the other 2 as well.

*grins* A lack of a smokin' machine isn't me problem, I'm happy to say...which means the issues I'm having lie either in drivers, the game itself, or a combination of both. While I wouldnae really consider meself a "control freak", I do prefer a certain amount of order and efficiency...which is why the first thing I do in any new game is remap almost every key to what works best for me. ;) Rarely are default key settings acceptable...and games that donnae let me customize them to what I want get left by the wayside pretty quick. :p
So, that's likely why I'm running into problems right away...the key remapper has some issues. :o

hehe...somehow I love the thought of Dara running around throwing grenades at people. :D
I have gotten half-way to 8th on the Iron Breaker. And ya, I did the best grinding on the PQ's. Hopefully I can hook up with some of you tonight and either help, be helped, or try some RvR - it's a heck of a lot more fun when grouped!
*giggles* Me Night-Elf Hunter/Engineer in WoW is probably the closest ye'll get to that sort of mental image...though she's a lot rougher-around-the-edges than Dara, so I suppose the comedic value isnae quite as high. :D But who knows, when more races become playable in WarH, there may be an Elven-esque Engineer in me future. :)
Editing the XML file directly (as suggested by a reply on the beta board) seems to've helped a LOT...I can actually strafe and interact with things on the screen now! =D Made it to level 3 last night killin' squigs using a repeatable quest that I donnae know is supposed to be repeatable :D, will have to investigate that more and perhaps report it as a possible exploitable bug.
Still can't map anything to my mouse buttons...I may have to break out a game profile in SetPoint and assign keys to the buttons outside of WarH in the meantime.
