Unfortunately, someone has already taken the name Kyrian. What are the odds? All these servers, and someone picks a silly name like Kyrian :)

Either way, I am now aboard as Fior and put myself through the torture of the intro quests last night.

Funny story. I was going to do the final instance by myself (Skorgrim's Tomb). Some pestering little guy who had been following me around asking me to fellow on the quests was so persistent that I decided to grace him with my presence in the Skorgrim's Tomb instance.

Well, I had to basically walk the guy through most of it. "Make sure you defend the Dwarf" and "Go fetch a bucket of water from over there", etc.

Of course, in the final showdown, both Marrec and the Orc Cheif go after me. I'm suddenly realizing that I am about to die. Dwalin and my new compadre are both targetting Marrec.

I jump off the stairs in a last ditch attempt to stay alive, but the poison/injury affects finish me off. I fall down on the stairs and the "do you want to retreat now" message appears. In the distance, in black and white, I watch as my fellowship member fights valiantly and finishes them both off.

Then he just stands there, confused. Thank God for Fellowship chat :)

"Okay, now go talk to the prisoner. Good, good. Now talk to the dwarf. Right. Okay, and again. Nice."

message pops up: [You have completed Skorgrim's Tomb]

*grin*

Lesson? Never hurts to drag along a willing newbie ... he just may save you in the end :)

*chuckles* I'm always so wary of groups. I just enjoy the game more I guess when I can solo or hang out with people I know. It means I don't have to deal with clueless people...

But sometimes obviously you have no choice especially in the higher level group quests.

But occasionally ...I make a good find and end up grouping with someone who clicks real well with me.

Just before the wipe I was doing the quests in the North Downs and me and a couple people decided to group up for a few quests. There was a young hunter lad and then a hobbit burglar who at first I thought was a guy too. Well when we fired up the voice chat come to find out the little "guy" was a lass.

Anyway since I've done those ND quests so many times I ended up leading them all around and showing them where everything was. But she and I grooved real well and when he had to go we stuck together for another couple hours. It was really good because I hadn't had a chance to group with burglars much. At least not for any length of time and I really saw a lot of things that I realized made them really valuable to a group.

When we finally parted ways, we'd knocked out like ten or so quests. It's those kinds of things that make my reluctance to group just a little less. But I still avoid it if I can *grins* I guess I'm just a lone wolf. It's really nice having a game that you don't "have" to always be in a group.

I'm so glad you're in, Kyr! I haven't been in myself for a couple days but plan on playing some after the patch today if I can.

I had to join three groups last night to do three different group quests.

The first group was ok. Well meaning people who were nice, I was happy.

The second group pulled me in, and the first thing I heard was "Hail! It is so great of you to join us." Perfect. :D

The third group was pedestrian, but when a recipe for an axe that I didn't have dropped, the guy that won the roll handed it right over to me when I mentioned I was an armscrafter and didn't have that one yet. I did give him almost vendor sell value in silver for it unasked, but it warmed my heart.

So, I've had some reasonably good experiences, but I agree with Aly, I like doing it with Spiritwood Rangers a lot more. And will be happy to lend my spear to anyone needing those quests again with a smile. :)
